What Methods Can Affect The Lifespan Of Cotton Bedding?

2025-08-29
1. Improper washing method:
High water temperature (>40 ℃): can damage the cotton fiber structure, causing the fabric to shrink and harden;
Frequent use of strong detergents/bleaching agents: corrodes fibers, causing fabric to fade and become brittle;
High speed during machine washing (>1200 rpm): High speed spin drying can pull fibers, causing bed sheets to deform and corner pilling.
2. Rough usage habits:
Long term friction (such as frequent turning over while sleeping or mixing with rough clothing): can easily cause fabric pilling and local wear;
Not cleaning in a timely manner (such as not changing bedding every week): Sweat and dandruff can penetrate fibers, accelerating fabric aging.
3. Improper drying and storage:
Exposure to direct sunlight for extended periods of time can cause cotton fibers to become brittle and fade;
Storage in damp environment: prone to mold growth and damage to fiber structure.
The correct way to extend durability:
1. Washing: Control the water temperature at 30-40 ℃, use neutral laundry detergent, machine wash in gentle mode, avoid mixing with hard objects such as zippers and buttons;
2. Drying: Dry in a cool and ventilated place, or in direct sunlight on the opposite side for 1-2 hours (avoid direct exposure);
3. Storage: After washing and drying, fold and store to avoid hanging (to prevent long-term stretching and deformation). A small amount of camphor balls can be placed to prevent moisture and insects;
4. Usage: Regularly rotate bedding (such as using 2-3 sets alternately) to reduce the wear frequency of a single set of bedding.
